Who We Are (crowds 1 and 2)

This is a project in which I asked members of the public to write a memory (any memory!) on their hands so I may photograph them.
I positioned myself in crowds (of varying
sorts - the first crowd in the grassed area of Hoxton Square,
London N1, and the second on Berwick Street, London W1), as
the project was intended to be an exploration into how a crowd
is made up of individuals, and how the two can co-exist. I
chose to ask for memories, as I had been researching the psychology
of memory and I thought a reminiscence of personal experience
is probably a good token of individuality.
I thought it would be nice to have a
memory written on the hand in the way one might do if required
to remember something to action in the future.
The project left me with more questions
than I started out with - I may add further text to this page
at a later date.
I would like to thank everybody who
offered their hands (and a few that didn't): for sharing their
time, being patient with me, and for offering a glimpse into
their lives.
I remember every one of you!
